The GÖKTÜRK-1 reconnaissance and observation satellite was launched on 5 December 2016 and settled into its sun-synchronous orbit.

Built by prime contractor Telespazio, the GÖKTÜRK-1 reconnaissance and observation satellite was launched on 5 December 2016 and placed into its sun-synchronous orbit.
The satellite produces imagery at 0.5 m panchromatic and 2 m multispectral resolution, operating in spot, strip, stereo and wide area modes with a 15 × 15 km swath.
