GÖKTÜRK-1
The work is carried out using vegetation indices computed from multispectral bands. The ratio of the red and near-infrared bands gives a measurable value for leaf density and vigour; tracking this value through the season makes it possible to distinguish crop types.
Because the same data reveals within-field variability, it is turned into variable-rate irrigation and fertilisation prescriptions: applying inputs where they are needed reduces both cost and environmental load. Comparisons made after frost, drought or flooding quantify the damaged area and the yield loss.
